What
is Etchgrip
Etchgrip is a chemical flooring treatment that will increase the slip resistance of your floor in wet conditions. Etchgrip is not a coating that can flake and wear off but a surface treatment that will create a much safer floor in the wet. This can be achieved without a discernable change in the look or feel of your floor. Our team of trained professionals can quickly and easily apply Etchgrip to your floor.
Etchgrip can treat:
- Ceramic tiles.
- Quarry tiles.
- Terrazzo.
- Marble.
- Concrete and cement aggregates.
- Stone surfaces.
- Enamel / Porcelain bath and shower bases.
How is this possible?
Etching is defined as the process of using strong acids to cut into the unprotected parts of a surface to create a design or print. This process has been known in Europe since the middle ages and may go back even further. The Etchgrip treatment uses a mixture of carefully tested acids to etch a microscopic tread design into the surface of hard flooring. This treatment greatly increases the floors slip resistance in wet conditions and therefore its pendulum test value (PTV). Each floor surface is tested prior to treatment to ensure the perfect solution mix is used to optimise the slip resistance without affecting the appearance of your floor.
The Law says,
you need Etchgrip
The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 requires employers to ensure the health and safety of all employees and anyone who may be affected by their work. This includes steps to control slips and trips.
Key messages about slips and trips
Slips & trips are the most common cause of
major injuries at work. They occur in almost all workplaces, 95%
of major slips result in broken bones and they can also be the
initial causes for a range of other accident types such as falls
from height.
• Slips and trips are serious
• Simple cost effective measures can reduce these accidents
Statistically - on average
- almost 11,000 major injuries each year;
- 38% of all major injuries;
- 27,000 over 3 days injuries;
- 24% of all over 3 day injuries.
- incalculable human cost
THIS MEANS 1 SLIP OR TRIP
ACCIDENT EVERY 3 MINUTES!!
Fast food outlets, nursing homes, restaurants,
office buildings, banks, hospitals, shopping centres, spas and country
clubs are just some of the facilities
that could benefit from an Etchgrip treatment. Obviously, the elderly and the young are most at risk, yet everyone is susceptible to slip and fall accidents. |
